Livejournal Opera

If we had the ability/talent to actually write music, we would be all over an opera (or operetta) about drama on livejournal. After discussing it a few seem to think it would be better suited on Broadway (somewhat Avenue Q-esque), but I think because of the amount of drama livejournal encompasses, it would make a better satirical opera. Opinions?

Oh my heavens, that is the greatest idea ever! Can we commission someone to write it for us?

I think it would be funny if it took itself incredibly seriously, because that's what internet drama is like.

I just realized that your picture is from "A Light in the Piazza". I suppose that's good? I only saw the segment at the Tony's.

I haven't seen it, but I have the cast recording and it is *wonderful*... it is my latest obsession. :D

There would be a scene about a flamewar, a scene about someone commiting suicide because they didn't get accepted to a rating community, a scene about someone getting in trouble at school because of something written on livejournal...

God, it would be such love. ;-)

i think it'd be exceedingly interesting, although not the subject matter i would write about personally.....though i could see a situation in which all the members of a community eventually meet and their drama increases tenfold. That would make my day.

It would be an opera appealing to such a large audience just because of its subject matter. Can you imagine the humongous amount of people it would draw to opera? :)

Oh, most definitely, I would love to see it written and performed, but it's not something I'd do myself. I tend to favor darker ideas, like apocalypse theories, and such.

Heres an idea, since none of us are composers:
Take arias from Handel operas, the ones that don't deal with a specific situation or charcter but describe an emotion/s(Da tempeste, for example) and string them together with spoken dialouge. It would totally work in some Eurotrashy theatre in Germany.

Actually, I'd suspect Paris Opera might go for it as well, they're pretty experimental.
